Terrain exaggeration

City2Surf 2026 — 14.05 km, 77 m of relief. Real Mapzen tiles, same decode and hillshade as the engine.

Elevation tiles are fetched cross-origin from AWS. That is blocked in most preview sandboxes, so this needs to run from a real https page — paste it into a Shopify page as a Custom Liquid block on the duplicate theme, the same way the route tile generator runs. The store already fetches these exact tiles for the Terrain style, so from there it will work.
Tap Fetch. If it fails, tap Run diagnostics — it reports exactly which step is blocked rather than leaving you to guess.

Exaggerated

How it works. The engine sets zf = tan(7°) / gmean, clamped to 1–6, where gmean is the mean gradient across the crop. It is a normaliser: it tries to make every route read as roughly the same steepness. The clamp is what bites on flat city routes — once zf hits 6 there is nothing left to give.
